What is STPM?
STPM, the Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (Malaysian Higher School Certificate), is a pre-university academic qualification taken over Form 6, usually about 1.5 years across three semesters. It is set and examined by the Malaysian Examinations Council (MPM), is highly academic and exam-focused, and is widely regarded as comparable to A-Levels. What is a diploma?

Which is right for you?
Choose STPM if you are strong at exams, comfortable with an academic, theory-heavy year and a half, and set on a specific degree — especially a competitive course at a public university where STPM is the usual entry route. It is low-cost and well respected. Choose a diploma if you prefer applied, hands-on learning, want a qualification that already has job value, or would rather earn a usable credential and possibly start working before deciding on a degree.
